Flames of the Forest

Port Douglas set a record last week recording more that 450 Millimetres of Rain in just one 24 hour period. The heaviest recorded daily rainfall since the early 1900’s.

The existing Flames site suffered severe flooding. As a result  Managing Director of Flames , Amelia Hannaford has advised that they will not be in any position to operate before Appril 3rd which is now the opening date for 2008/09.”I’ve never seen the river rise to the levels that it did last week “Ms Hannaford said.

Every cloud has a silver lining however  “We will be using a new site quite close to the current one which we have tested and we think it’s brilliant”. Amelia also said that she is excited about the level of bookings already showing up for the coming tourism year.
